HPB Food Repo
Since 2010, HPB has maintained a food and nutrient (F&N) database on the FOCOS IT system, supporting two public-facing e-services used by healthcare professionals, researchers, and others:
Food & Nutrient Search: Allows users to search and compare nutritional data.
Recipe Analysis Tool: Calculates nutritional values based on user-inputted recipes.
Built in 2010, these tools have UX/UI gaps and will be rebuilt with improved design aligned to HPB’s CX principles.

KEY PAINPOINTS
01
*Cumbersome user journey e.g. too many clicks to complete action
04
Unable to export search results
02
Display issues (e.g. not mobile-friendly)
05
Inaccurate/incomplete information, e.g. data lacks transparency and users have no information on how data was obtained
03
Display issues (e.g. not mobile-friendly)
06
Types of data shown to users are not appropriately curated for function/e-service
*Unable to do comparisons of multiple food items across search results (e.g., can only compare 3 dishes at a time, andhave to be done within the same search)
If user wants to add/remove item from recipe creation flow, they have to go back to the start of recipe creation (and can only be done by clicking “Back to search” button – clicking browser’s Back button loses the entire search
